“Man Vs. House Anxiety” by Liou Bo-tsuen Liou Bo-tsuen graduated from the Sculpture Department at the École Nationale Supérieure des Beaux-arts, Paris, France. Liou incorporates large amounts of iron, steel and other metals in his works, using the hard and solid metal mediums to lead viewers into an abstract framework field. The work“Man Vs. House Anxiety” combines clean-looking rectangular-shaped geometric frames with curled up humans. It expresses the idea that modern civilization has created a safe and solid “home” but the people living in this box are trapped in an ivory tower. The minds of people are like the curled up human in the work, uneasy souls that show a myriad and complex combination of pressure and emptiness.
