I study how human activities influence the original landscape of a place, as well as how such landscape influences people afterwards. There is such continuous inter-influence between mankind and their surroundings. In the center of this painting is a small plaza—a constructed place with few characteristics, attributes or meanings. One can easily find a place like this in our surroundings—it is being created / demolished all the time. I hope to highlight the ambiguous nature of a place like this by discussing how it can be utilized. As you can see, on this plaza, some coconut trees are planted in small holes just enough for them to grow. The trees grow up and up so neatly and mannerly. Aside from the coconut trees, however, the plaza has no other characteristics, and we can’t possible discern where this place can be. We only know that this is a place where we can dance...
