I was born in the “sweet” 80s when the economy of Taiwan had just taken off. I never lacked anything in childhood and took this for granted. For me, a perfect life means all material demands are met. As I grow up, however, I realize that materialism is often followed by lack of spiritual fulfillment. Thus I painted this speechless character who reflects upon his acquiescence to materialism and a distorted set of values in the past with an empty look.
