“Concentric Circles” by Shu Li-shien Shu Li-shien graduated from the Fine Arts College at the National Taiwan University of Arts. His work “Concentric Circles” is made of half concrete/half abstract female bodies that are linked together to form a circle. Visually, viewers can distinguish curved lines, straight lines and organic blocks of different sizes and shapes, giving the work a continuous sense of movement. For many artists, the round shape and hole of a circle holds a mysterious life force. Thus, whether circles are in a geometric and abstract work, made from a series of half concrete/half abstract shapes or made from organic abstract blocks that have holes bored through them, artists all stress that circles have a balance and stability in its rhythm that correlates with natural life.
