This work is a reminiscence of a vagabond trip in Shan-bei. I took a train from Xi-an heading north to Shan-bei; on the way, the scenery was full of variety. From all accounts it was the scenery depicted in “Xi-shan Trip” by Fan-kuan. It is also an important reference to my trip: the first time I saw yellow earth and mountains this strange and changeful; down under the think soil seemed there abundant cultural treasures. It is the first time I, who was born in Taiwan, have experience such an impact when facing splendid scenery. I was very much inspired to create with scissors and wood. I continued the creation concept of using paper-cut to make 3D art works, cutting into pieces the plywood and then building up these pieces until the work was done. Each work was made up with 200-300 pieces, different shapes of wood. In this organic creation process, the sensory experience has become a mustache of life: densely spread over under the knife, repeatedly but also with delight. (Young Artist Collection Catalog)
