“Yuan” by Li Tzai-chian
Li Tzai-chian graduated from the Department of Fine Arts at National Taiwan Normal University. His work “Yuan” started from a concept of rectangular box shapes that were welded together at different points, representing the essence of matter and symbolizing the start of shaping. The geometric structure of the work uses rectangular shapes as the basic unit, and new shapes are created via continuous and regular changes in combination. These new shapes are clean and flowing and have no hint of sloppiness. The spatial flow effect and the neat order of the lines, surfaces and bodies in the work form a 3-D shape that has balanced weight and symbiotic tangible/intangible parts. The straight lines, flat surfaces and bright red color establish a strong, passionate, optimistic and hopeful feel within the work.
