An architectural monster like a viaduct is everywhere in the city. It is the conveyer belt to transport traffic and resources. The authoritative, stern, and icy-cold appearance creates an urban-specific atmosphere of conquer, exploitation, and oppression. The artist adopts a cold and stern geometric structure, an exaggerated low angle perspective, and the gloomy gray-blue to highlight the role of viaducts inurban infrastructure. Meanwhile, the highly contrasting frigid light-and-shadow in the middleground further emphasizes the creepy atmosphere of “looking up” – urban infrastructure provides a vision of the economic development while it also occupies the space for human to survive.
