There are things that used to belong to the same entity. It’s just that once they are divided into different parts, they no longer look the same. And there are boundaries, too. I want to maneuver them or make new ones so as to show what’s within and beyond them. I don’t seek an answer. I just want to return to a world when the existing boundaries had yet been set. The sturdier, pillar-like lower parts of the chair legs, as well as their thinner upper parts, are actually crafted out of the same piece of wood. They are not made of different pieces. I selected some old pillar wood, trimmed it down to a good size for making furniture, and pieced the different parts together to make a chair, although the lines between the chair and the pillars can be easily seen. Big and small, new and old, architecture and furniture…while these elements seem contradictory, when placed together, they perhaps look more like a real tree.
