“Harmonizing” by Ho Heng-shiung
Ho Heng-shiung graduated from the Sculpture Department in the Fine Art College at the National Taiwan University of Arts. Looking at the exterior of the work “Harmonizing”, we see that it incorporates two different forms of expression. The first form is multiple, repeating lines that are very similar to one another, and their soft and flowing characteristics resemble the pleats on a skirt. The second is the ball shape at the top of the work that resembles a fireball and has spiraling lines carved on it. Although this work is an abstract design that utilizes stacked blocks that are simplistic and arranged in a sliced plane form, the weight of the ball shape and the flame-shaped forms surrounding the ball intertwine in myriad ways, making for complex changes.
