Apart from being one of the Eight Outlaws in the Eastern Painting Group, Hsiao garnered considerable attention and media coverage as well as greatly encouraged Taiwanese young modern artists at that time, for he was the first Taiwanese modern painter who won the prize at a prestigious international art exhibition. Although his migration to the United States estranged him from Taiwan’s fine arts development, he still enjoys a star status in Taiwan’s art scene. A Stroll Down Memory Lane-02 is his recent work created in 2014, highlighting a more diverse array of bright colors and lively strokes in comparison with his earlier works.
