“Breaking Out” by Wang Guo-shian Wang Guo-shian n graduated from the Sculpture Department in the Fine Art College at the National Taiwan University of Arts and also obtained a Master’s Degree in Sculpture from the Accademia di belle arti di Carrara. If we only look at the outer appearance of the work “Breaking Out”, the work is a stone ball that resembles an orange that has been cut into several slices, with the bottom preserving its complete shape. Wang shaped the work in the image of a flower bud that is close to blooming, and his inspiration came from round stones that were rounded by nature. The outer areas of the work represent flower petals and symbolize the changing of the four seasons. The middle part of the work represents the style of the flower, and it symbolizes the supply of nutrients. The cube at the top represents the pistil of the flower, symbolizing the pinnacle of the work.
