Tales of Reproduction: Male and Female sees simulation as the starting point of constructing a new world. In the reconstructing process, what is changed is not the contents of our living environment, but the ways of seeing, reading and engaging in this world. The digitalized world does not erase the content or meaning of things. What it does is to expand our world through the collection, encoding, rearrangement, storage and systemization of information. Central to lives in this new digitalized world is the experience of operating within a graphical user interface which primarily involves extensive use of computer monitor screens or touch screens. In other words, living in this digitalized world largely entails that we transform a significant part of the three-dimensional field of everyday experience into two-dimensional modes of representation.
