“Nostalgia” by Shu Fu-teng
Shu Fu-teng graduated from the Sculpture Department in the Fine Art College at the National Taiwan University of Arts and later on obtained a degree from the Graduate School of Plastic Arts at the National Taiwan University of Arts. He created the work “Nostalgia” because of his nostalgia toward things in the past. He used his experiences while growing up, the changes in the environment and the overlapping pieces of his consciousness to reinterpret the beauty and impressions in his thoughts. The shape of the head in his work expresses the vexing and complicated emotions one feels when homesick as well as the overlapping of various memories and emotions. The intertwined lines in the work make concrete the abstract emotions within the work.
