This painting is concerned with how we respond to the explosion of knowledge in the era of media abundance. The technical and stylistic choice that I have made for this painting, which essentially entails processing nostalgic low-tech images, is perhaps driven by my own fear and anxiety about failure to keep pace with the flow of information. This, however, does not mean that I am against technological or historical progress. By engaging in a slow laboring process, I try to re-define my own position in relation to this era of information abundance that we now live in. As a matter of fact, I often shift my viewing positions in terms of how I look at the virtual worlds from the viewpoint of the physical world, or how I look present myself in a virtual world.(Chou Tai-chun)
