I tried to create a 100% fabricated future through animation in response to Taipei being constantly under renovations. With so many urban renewal projects going on in the city, I feel that this is how people attempt to build a better world based on their expectations, visions and fantasies of the future. I imagine how living beings will become of in a post-urban renewal time. “Trees that refuse to breathe” and “black liquid paint monsters” are among the creatures of tomorrow. Through this documentary fable of the future, I hope to evoke viewers’ fear for tough survivals. People believe that they are creating a better future. Ironically enough, it is a future without future.
