Following the installation series, Creeping (2002), I began to create this piece entitled Wrinkling. As we can see, a large and dense volume of the material overwhelms our visual senses like a whirlpool of bubbles springing from the wall, conjuring up the imagery of an ever-growing organic monster looming over an unknown site. What greets the viewer is a black hole that absorb all light and energy, or, a never-ending nightmare that constantly threatens to engulf the world of physical reality.
Unlike my previous works which were often attached to the surface of the confined space, this piece tries to form short-distance interaction with the viewer, like a dream, or desire, or feeling or emptiness which cannot be clearly described, but nevertheless continually plagues everyone of us.(Huang Pei Ying)
