This was a view from a window in Haishan. As the relocation of Hongmaogang slowly came to an end, the Haishan settlement also began to disappear. Following the demolishing, the view from the window of this ruin is no longer some lime coated wall next to Narrow Alley, but is the busy Kaohsiung Harbor seen through a hole. Older folks still remember the laughter of playing children and clothes drying in the sun. There are many yellow flowers on the loofah vine and the sound of women chatting by the well as they wash clothes. A window is a portal for emotions, rather than a way out for a multitude of noisy admiration. When people were forced to leave their old home of Haishan, the old houses left behind began to disappear, and the widening horizon through the window is a view absence in the memories of Haishan's residents.
