I present the perception and movement of time in a mini world in this series in comparison to those in the real world. This results in a contrast and some tension. The trembling objects in the mini world look so fragile and lonely; they deliver anxiety and unrest. The fast-changing lights and shades seem to compress time so much that everything in the model world ceases to function as they are trapped in this enclosed axis of time. I used a motor that I reconstructed on my own in this artwork and linked it to various daily life objects to make them tremble at a high speed. This, interestingly enough, results in a certain visual stability, just like if you compress numerous repetitive moments you will come up with a fixed, unchanging entity. It may seem static, but it is really by nature full of violence. In addition to bringing attention to people’s much neglected visual perception, the creative approach of “making things tremble” also attempts to reflect on time and speed in moving images. In this way the moving, trembling images of objects representing a new visual aesthetics are introduced to the real world. Unlike other kinetic artworks that we know of, this trembling installation does not aim to showcase any tempo, rhythm or movement. Because the high-speed trembling movement exceeds the limits of mankind's vision, it becomes something out of focus, bringing about a special experience of time and speed. Such an experience, when juxtaposed with ordinary daily life objects, feels more fascinating than ever.
