Some deserted objects floating in the Pacific Ocean, as well as the memories, things and events that we thought we could have abandonded, are coming into this artwork from all parts of the world. They follow powerful waves to ashore a melancholic beach, just like pencil writings that can never be fully erased by erasers. These things gradually form an island. They include mass produced cars from the United States, tobacco from China, suitcases manufactured in Germany, rotten animal corpses, and some foreign robots whose origin is unknown. This big compilation can be seen as the “Seventh Continent of the World.” I am mesmerized by this mysterious place. I have never really been there, but it looks dazzling to me. It is beautiful and sorrowful. Perhaps this material profusion has not been born by coincidence. It is possible that, when manmade and natural objects amass, an alternative ecology emerges and new mythologies of the deserted objects appear. Will mankind be redeemed by then?
