“Recall” by Tsau Ya
Tsau Ya graduated from the Sculpture Department in the Fine Art College at the National Taiwan University of Arts. He uses surreal techniques to show human emotional concepts in his work “Recall”. The pedestal of the work is shaped like a human head with the top of its skull removed. On top of the pedestal is an abstract geometric form that resembles a series of jumping thought signs that remind people of the works of the Spanish artist Joan Miró. The changing, organic objects and the unique geometric shapes of the work have a dreamlike humor and cuteness, liberating the unconscious and illogical forces within viewer’s minds. This experience is like listening to one’s memories in one’s mind, the tunes of a familiar musical lyric flying around in the sky gently emerging from the memories.
