Invisible Project – Living Shadow Tribe is inspired by the shadowy figures of Taiwanese aborigines in their everyday lives or during festive activities. They cast their shadows either on the ground, on the walls, or over household utensils. Ultimately, we have to call attention to the ethnic minorities and the stories of their lives as told to the mainstream society. Any single minority group must not be allowed to fade away into cultural obscurity. These shadow warriors under the sun will only then continue to live on regardless of the ignorance as shown from modern society. When looking at the dancing shadows lacking in human form, we could clearly realize the importance and urgency in passing on the cultural heritages. The motion picture Living Shadow Tribe portrays the shadows of all shapes and sizes that can be extended far beyond any form and variation. The main appeal and motive in this piece is not something that can be attained in the human form. CGI effects are used in Invisible Project – Living Shadow Tribe to skillfully detach the physical human body from the image, thereby resulting in discordance between the shadow and spatial dialogue in the motion picture. The final image reveals the regrettable body of culture without predominating governing figure. (Walis LaBai)
