In evolutionary biology, mimicry is a way that animals, insects or plants protect themselves by mimicking the appearance of stronger species or the surroundings. In this way, they can reduce the chance of being discovered by natural enemies. I was born and raised in a rural village in Suao Township, Yilan County. My childhood was all about playing in rice fields. As I grew up, I moved to the cities for study and work. This artwork reveals my longing for a rural life, like the one I used to lead. It also suggests how mankind may become one with nature, just like insects resting gently in rice fields. Finally, I want to show how mankind and nature influence one another through the defensive mimicry of insects.
