“The Origin” by Ji Yi-feng
Ji Yi-feng graduated from the Sculpture Department in the Fine Art College at the National Taiwan University of Arts. At first glance, his work “The Origin” looks like a wall and at the same time a door. The two doorframes on the sides are made from two pillars that seem to resemble corners, and the surface of the frames show diverse textures processing and have round pebble shapes commonly seen in the stones in Taiwan, giving the work a decorative flair. The top of the work has three awl-shaped objects that resemble tops. The tops are connected to each other, integrating the two doorframes into one work. In this work, Ji incorporated the Eastern concept of yin and yang and put a together a collage made of jade utensils and other aboriginal objects to express an endless supply of vitality.
