In Greek mythology, Arachne was a skillful weaver turned into a spider by Athena. Based on Arachne’s story and my own observations on spiders, I created this artwork to discuss prejudices and subjectivism in human society.
Spiders are not well-liked in the real world. In the mythological world, Arachne was also condemned to be weaving her fragile web in one place forever. This also like an artist dedicated to creating art all the time. Of course, biologists may look at spiders differently. I digested, arranged, juxtaposed and mingled the various views of spiders during the creative process to see if I could present spiders from multiple perspectives at the same time. I also hope to explore how these views can extend far and beyond to form a brand new image of spiders.
