As a saying goes, women would dress up herself for her beloved ones. She would even gladly endure physical pain as long as she looks good. In a ridiculing approach, this sculpture emphasizes the unnatural wrinkles of a female body tucked in a tight dress, so as to express how stressful it is when a woman goes after physical attractiveness.
What’s more, as the media preach mainstream beauty, the general public’s value system continues to be dominated, controlled, and shaped by them. As a result, marginalized people feel anxious and want to get closer to the mainstream. The collective unconsious on beauty takes away people’s characters and souls, turning them into mass production products. Such is the social observation proposed in this artwork.
