On top of the woman's head stands a headless cock with a long, white tail, signifying a sense of lofty superiority for being a rare breed. However, with its head cut off, the symbolic castration is undergone and the cock becomes transformed from a living creature to a sacred symbol of faith. Kneeling on the floor with her palms facing up, the woman stares at the white tails in the darkness of the room. With the headless cock and the woman both signifying absence of judgement and independent thinking, this painting casts criticism towards the blind belief in any system of thoughts.(Gao Yi-sheng)
