The main character of the work is Peter Pan, the little boy from Western literature, who can fly and will never grow up. He rides on a rhinoceros beetle, a stag beetle, a bumblebee, a longhorned beetle, and a dragonfly (which are a million times larger than their original size) at five directions – east, south, west, north, and the center – to protect the magic island in the artist’s mind. Other protectors include Captain Hook and the crocodile, and these two used to be the villains of the story who are each other’s enemy. In the Utopian paradise, the innocent passion of Peter Pan comes from the depth of the artist’s heart where a child forever lives inside. From the resistance to the social/political authority in the early stage of his artistic practice to the world of fantasy now, the artist’s attempt to change the world remains alive, although he no longer takes a rebellious position. Instead, he unleashes the childhood fantasy, creating a fictional happy ending to fulfill the paradise in his dream which he will never reach.
