This circus is formed unknowingly by a group of dwarves who can only live in a fantasy world. To survive in the narrow space between reality and fantasy, members of the circus have had to make a living by doing amateurish performances. The reason that these circus performers are made in the image of ancient-style characters is twofold, firstly because I have always been fascinated by classical Chinese dramas and folk entertainment, and secondly because they are both marginal members of the society, which is the main theme of this piece.(Tsui Yung Yen)
