In Greek mythology, Pegasus was a winged horse which sprang forth from the neck of Medousa when she was beheaded by the hero Perseus. Kind-hearted, bright and fast flying, Pegasus was eventually captured by the hero Bellerophon when peacefully drinking from a spring. Bellerophon tried to use Pegasus to fly to Mount Olympus, but Zeus was not amused and sent an insect to bite Pegasus. Pegasus then bucked off Bellerophon, who fell to earth and died. It just goes to show that it is not entirely impossible to tame the flying horse, even though it is indeed difficult. However, once Pegasus has been captured and tamed, it remains loyal to its master, and they develop a magical bond as if there was an unbreakable contract between them. Compared to the Unicorn, Pegasus possess more qualities of a good companion. I find the notion of "true love" just as magical yet unreal as the mythological character. This piece, like my previous one, deals with the pursuit of true love, with the wound on Pegasus's body signifying the hurt and pain which may be caused in the process. I want to stress that no one can be guaranteed a painless life in the kingdom of love. However, even if one does get hurt, the blood that flows from the wound will shine light on any darkness.(Lu Chih Yun)
