Joy is in the Air features a traditional design of the Dawu tribe from Orchid island and is composed of indigenous owls, dogs, chickens, a goat, flying fish, as well as a couple wearing traditional costumes. Every element is a symbol of good fortune – in Chinese the words for ‘chicken’ and ‘lucky’ sound similar, the goat is an ancient symbol of good fortune whilst fish represent prosperity. Taken together, all of the images featured in the print create an atmosphere of joy.
