This work highlights Pingtung’s humanistic landscape and is included in Lee’s catalogue, Taiwan Project. It was exhibited in Lee’s curatorial project “Land Debate” in Zhutian Township, Pingtung County. Lee painted the piece after putting the image on canvas, and decorated it with scattered spots of spray paint before completing it. The use of multimedia techniques underpins the richly layered composition and the fascinating mixture of imagery and painting. The huge Chinese character “three” at the center of the composition was derived from a Hokkien transliteration denoting constant noise, a metaphorical expression of the cacophony of birds and insects on banana plantations in the summer.
