“I seem more lovely to you when my body is inverted” the title talks hypothetically with a provocative hint, stating a corresponding relationship between the one who looks and the one to be looked at. It seems ambiguous how a woman’s body is presented in this work. The inverted poses look like an evidence of something. The female object in the pictures supports herself sturdily, though she looks vulnerable on the surface. At the same time, she has not given up at all the right to choose how she is going to be looked at. In such a complying observance mechanism, the female precisely sense her own condition and one can verify the relationship between the female object and the people who watch. I try to illustrate women’s toughness with various expressions of the female’s body and to explain the gaze process and the related psychological status. My own body image is always present in my works. Each piece of work has its own point of view. In addition, I try to use my personal life experiences and delicate feelings about body as materials of my creations. I want to present women not only from a male gaze perspective, but also I am eager to find a female gaze perspective, which has been always neglected.
