Blind Men borrows from The Blind Leading the Blind by Dutch folk painter Pieter Bruegel the Elder. In Blind Men, a similar group of blind men with walking staffs, hands resting on each other’s shoulders, sharing one large pair of clogs, pass through dark alleys and streets in Taipei at night. Not unlike the Clog Sprint event that is traditionally at the Dragon Boat Festival in Taiwan, teams wearing this type of large clogs race against each other where one single misstep will take down the whole group. This presents a test of chemistry between each member on the team. Blind Men is a metaphor and satire piece on the hive mentality of the common people. (Wu Tien-chang)
