Likewise, frustrations in some cases may not be frustrating if examining them in different standards. All of the protagonists in the photos are my friends—tough, independent modern women. I asked them to fall off to the glass floor and be relaxed. Strangely enough, when they did this, they looked so beautiful no matter how I photographed them. Nowadays, a standard beauty would be skinny, as opposed to being curvy or even somewhat chubby in the history of art. I want to present a different kind of sexiness from the one we see in mainstream media. Fairy Tales is composed of four photographs, Plum Blossom,Orchid,Bamboo, and Chrysanthemum. Plum Blossom and Bamboo were shot in the Jihe Community Compound. Chrysanthemum, taken in a room of a small family’s, reflects the many petty matters in daily life. The women are dressed in high-fashion couture to indicate that modern beauty is only a result of media misguidance.
